WAPA OFFICES CLOSED TERRITORY WIDE TODAY DUE TO PASSAGE OF TROPICAL STORM DORIAN
Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority Executive Director Lawrence J. Kupfer said Wednesday morning that given the latest advisory pertaining to Tropical Storm Dorian and its impact on the territory, non-essential employees are not required to report to work today territory-wide.
“This leave, however, does not include the following classes of employees: plant operations, line department, and those charged with emergency management, and incident command functions and responsibilities,” Kupfer said.
Kupfer said the emergency management team will meet this morning to further discuss any last minute preparations that may be required. “We have closely watched the changing forecast of Dorian through the overnight hours, and are taking additional steps regarding any response and recovery that may be required.”
WAPA will provide regular updates about its operations and any impact the electric and water systems may experience from the winds and rains associated with Tropical Storm Dorian.
